Dia de Los Muertos
See the Grand Conservatory in bright and vivid color during the month of October and on November 1st and 2nd for this spectacular event!
Beginning October 9th we will have several Ofrendas on display in our theme Conservatory, one is for our Community to participate in, so bring us your mementos, pictures, favorite foods and beverages of departed loved ones to sit on the Alter to honor their memory (please only bring food/beverages that is in packaged, sealed, and un-opened containers, and only bring items that represent your loved ones that you don't need to have returned to you- copies of photos etc.). Another Ofrenda honors some of the local leaders of the Hispanic community, and one will show you an example of a traditional Ofrenda and what each part of it represents.
During the month of October the work of local artist Do Palma will be displayed in our 2nd floor hallway, depicting Dia de Los Muertos inspired scenes, and nichos made by our staff.
On November 1st the Celebration begins from 11am - 4pm! Come and see the dazzling plant displays and learn about the significance of the flowers for the Holiday. Sample the authentic food available to purchase from La Pina Loca, and Tortilleria La Paz. View the Ofrendas on display, and take your photo in front of our Giant Sugar Skull!
November 2nd will close the Holiday with a bang from 1-5pm, with performances by Las Angelitas Unidas y Los Rayos del Sol, Mariachi 307, and Flores de Colores! Help create a mural on the floor of the Children's Village, enjoy a variety of activities in our Conservatory classroom, and continue to enjoy the fresh fruit of La Pina Loca, and Tacos and Pan de Muerto from Tortilleria La Paz!
Special Thanks to the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel and Bouquets Unlimited for their support of the Community and this Event!
There is no admission fee to the event but some activities and food/beverage have a cost.
