A free outdoor celebration of summer hosted by the Community Recreation & Events team and presented by HollyFrontier!

While we've hosted Superday for a number of years, we wanted to make 2019 better than ever! So we're mixing it up a bit!

  • New location on the North side of Lions Park
  • New events and sign-up opportunities
  • New food and community vendors

And some amazing events to plan for in advance:

Thursday, June 20 & Friday, June 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Kiwanis Community House, 4603 Lions Park Drive)

Saturday, June 22 from 6:30 - 9:00 a.m. (Brimmer Amphitheater, North Lions Park)

Walk/Run Start: 8:15 a.m.

Awards Presented: 9:30 a.m.

Superday Begins: 10:00 a.m.

The course starts at the North Lions Park Amphitheater and heads north on the Cheyenne Greenway down toward Central High School. Mid-way through the race you'll stumble upon some fun entertainment! Stay to listen or continue on the route.

A time clock will be at the official end of the route to double-check your stats, along with fun awards, drinks, pizza and music.

This is not a chipped run, but we guarantee you'll have fun.

Rest Stops & Support and Gear: For your convenience and comfort, there will be rest stops with refreshments on all routes. Rest stops will close at the following times:

  1. Rest Stop #4: Vedauwoo @ 1:00 p.m.
  2. Rest Stop #3: 35-Mile @ 1:30 p.m.
  3. Rest Stop #2: 25-Mile @ 2:30 p.m.
  4. Rest Stop #1: 12.5-Mile @3:30 p.m.

Super & Gear vehicles will be provided by the City of Cheyenne. No major repairs will be attempted. Contact information will be provided at the registration table on the day of the Tour.

Saturday, June 22:

7:30 - 8:00 a.m.: Artist Check-In (North Lions Park Community Garden)

8:00 a.m.: Chalk Art Drawing Begins

11:30 a.m.: Chalk Art Drawing Ends, Judging Begins

12:30 p.m.: Chalk Art Festival Winners Announced (North Lions Park Amphitheater)

Guidelines:

  1. Artists can work solo or as a pair on one 4x4' square. Each artist or pair will be provided with chalk and concrete working surface.
  2. Chalk is the only medium allowed for this event. All participants will be provided a palette of chalk. Paris will receive one palette.
  3. Pairs must meet age requirements; although younger ages can step up categories.
  4. All artists must state the specific image based on the theme, "Be Entertained!" to be drawn prior to confirmation of participation. Festival organizers reserve the right to deem subject matter inappropriate. Political or commercial advertisements and statements are not allowed. We are a family friendly event; please keep that in mind when deciding what to create.
  5. Applications are due June 15, 2019, and can be mailed to: Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, 710 South Lions Park Drive. Or, fill out an application online. Or stop by the Kiwanis Community House for a paper application!

  • Youth (Ages 12 & Under)
  • Young Adult (Ages 13 - 17)
  • Adult (Ages 18+)

Weather: Superday 2019 will be held if rain occurs but will be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. Due to the incredible amount of planning and participation of numerous volunteers, there is no reschedule date or refunds.

Superday 2019 Fishing Derby

Fishing Derby Info:

Date: Saturday, June 22, 2019

Time: 6:30 - 9:30 a.m.

Where: Sloan’s Lake - North Lions Park near Boy Scout Hut (Kiwanis Community House)

Parking: Parking Lot C (Off 8th Avenue). Avoid Kennedy Drive as vendors will be entering from this end of the park. $2 to park per vehicle.

Fishing Derby Rules:

  • Must follow all Wyoming Game and Fish Regulations. Violations will result in disqualification.
  • There are 2 divisions (17 and under, 18 and over).
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three longest fish in each division. Any ties will be broken with weight of fish. Must be registered to win.
  • Disputes will be settled by derby officials, located at the Official Weigh-in Station Tent. Their decision will be final.
  • All contestants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Any cheating will disqualify you.
  • No fish will be accepted after 9:20 a.m.
  • When a fish is caught, it must be brought to the weigh station by the Community House within 20 minutes. Fish registered with the derby will not be released. Gutting or any other alteration of the fish will result in disqualification.
  • Everyone must fish from the shore of the lake. No boats will be allowed
  • The City of Cheyenne claims no responsibility for accidents or injuries during the competition. You are on the premises at your own risk.
  • Only fish coming from Sloan’s Lake caught during the hours of the derby will be awarded prizes.
  • Signature on registration form implies consent for release and use of your name and pictures to the public via printed, video, or internet media.

Registrations currently happening at the Kiwanis Community House (4603 Lions Park Drive) until spots are filled.

Minimum age of participation is 16 years old. Parent or guardian must sign the attached waiver. Teams must have a minimum of 4 participants to join the Superday 2019 Tournament. Up to 8 players may be on the roster.

4-on-4 Adult Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Tournament Rules

  • Teams check in at Kiwanis Community House (back porch) 15 mins prior to game time.
  • North Lions Park – 2 Sand Volleyball Pits
  • Bracket to be sent to Team Captain by June 19.
  • Two games guaranteed.
  • Players must be at least 16 years of age or older to participate.
  • Four players must be present to start a match; Players may be inserted into the lineup upon arrival after they have checked-in with the Chair (Waiver must have been signed). There can be up to 8 players on the roster.
  • At all times there must be one male and one female on the court.
  • Net Height 7’4”.
  • Ball weight around 9-10 ounces, with 2.5-3.2 sq. inches of pressure.
  • Players provide own uniform. Superday 2019 theme “Be Entertained!” Dress to impress. This is a family event; please keep that in mind when creating the uniform. Tournament Chair reserves the right to deem subject matter inappropriate.
  • The Chair has the right to disqualify players whose clothing is too revealing by viewers and audiences.
  • All matches will start at their designated times. There is a 10-minute grace period until a forfeit is declared.
  • Two serves (no blocking or spiking during serve).
  • Players can touch the ball 3 times maximum before they return it across the court – blocks included.
  • Players are permitted to cross below the net in Beach Volleyball – but this will be classed as a foul if it tampers or interferes with the opposing team’s play.
  • There is no set position for players after the serve, meaning they can move to any part of the court they wish at any time after the serve. All players must rotate in and out.

Scoring:

  • A match consists of the best of 2 out of 3 games.
  • Games are played to 21 points, RALLY scoring, cap of 25 points if needed 3rd game played to 15 points cap of 20 points
  • Teams call their own matches. There will be support staff at each court.
  • Teams switch sides every tenth point (for example with score at 4 – 6 or 5 – 5)
